Jesus Revealed the Truth to Israel

Colossians 2 : 14 – 15, Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. -NKJV

Acts 1 : 1 – 3, The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. -NKJV

The chief priest and elders of Israel devised a plan to have Jesus crucified because He was a threat to their power and influence. Jesus declared the truth and set people free from bondages and disease. After the leaders carried out a mock trial and found Him guilty in their sight of lying and blaspheming, they condemned Him to die.

Imagine for a moment all that the religious leaders, Pilate and Herod, put Jesus through after they arrested Him in the Garden of Gethsemane. The men paid Judas thirty pieces of silver to betray the Lord. These same leaders also hired people to bear false witness against Him. It didn’t take much coercion from the deceitful men to work up the crowd of Jews into becoming a mob that demanded the Romans put Jesus to death.

Except for Pilate, who was warned by his wife not to condemn Jesus, everyone else seemed convinced that He was worthy of death. The cries from the crowd that day became so intense that Pilate became fearful of them and gave into the Jews’ demands. Pilate told the Jews that he would release one prisoner and asked them if they wanted Barabbas, a convicted robber, or Jesus. If all that the leaders had done against Jesus wasn’t bad enough, the people chose Barabbas over Jesus.

We know from the verses above that Jesus appeared in Jerusalem for forty days after His passion. It was during this time that Jesus performed many infallible miracles before He ascended into heaven.

Paul writes that Jesus made a public spectacle of the leaders when He returned to Jerusalem. How do you think the men who condemned Jesus must have felt when they saw Jesus alive and healing people once again? I wonder how those who were paid to lie against the Lord responded when they heard or saw Jesus?

Jesus put the Jews, who lied against Him, to a public shame just by walking through the streets of Jerusalem after He returned from His resurrection. Jesus didn’t have to point His finger or say anything to any of the guilty parties; all He had to do was walk the streets.

I wonder how the Jews who cried out for Pilate to crucify Him reacted when they saw Jesus alive in Jerusalem again? I would say there were more than a few “dropped-jaws” in Israel over the course of those forty days.

Have you been falsely accused and condemned by people who didn’t know the truth about you? Please allow this message from the Lord inspire you to let God take vengeance and clear your name. God knows how to expose lies and reveal the truth.
