Learning How to Process

Romans 7 : 18 – 20, For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. - NKJV After we accept Jesus as our Savior, there is a process that we undergo where the Lord begins a work in our hearts. Our Father wants us to grow beyond “being saved”. He wants us to become Christ-like. In our natural understanding and strength this process will seem impossible.   Nevertheless, God knows what He’s doing and how to get us to the place in our life so that He can perform His good pleasure in our hearts. Paul teaches in Philippians that God will see to completion the work that He has begun in us. He also writes in the same letter that it is God who works in us both to will and to do His good pleasure. It is at this po

Caught Up in the Moment

Romans 12 : 1 – 2, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. - NKJV Luke 10 : 40 – 42, But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me." And Jesus answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her." - NKJV There’s nothing like watching children play with their new toys on Christmas morning. The excitement level in our sons would increase as the moment to open the gifts drew closer. Finally, the moment arrived, and the

A Brand New Person

2 Corinthians 5 : 14 - 17 , For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if one died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. NKJV I’m grateful that God gave Paul these revelations about the difference between our old nature and our new nature. Paul is a wonderful example of how powerful the grace of God is toward sinners who humble themselves before the Lord. Paul was once called Saul of Tarsus. As Saul, he killed and imprisoned many followers of Christ because of their faith. Therefore, if anyone could write about the spiritual transformation that occurs in the hearts of believers w

The Power of the Cross

Romans 1 : 16 – 17, For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith." –NKJV   As we prepare for the day when believers celebrate the resurrection of Christ, let us be mindful of all that Jesus did for us on the cross. Jesus was not ashamed to be seen with sinners and tax collectors. He walked freely among those who were leprous, as He healed them. He didn’t shy away from those whom society had rejected; He reached out to them with compassion. Even when the woman who was found in the act of adultery was brought before Him, Jesus defended her. We can truly say, without question, that Jesus wasn’t ashamed of us when we were sinners.   In today’s passages, Paul boldly declared to the church in Rome that he wasn’t ashamed to preach the gospel of Jesus C

But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming. Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. NKJV The validity of the entire Bible rests upon one event... the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Paul uses different terminology; nevertheless, the sentiment is the same. If Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty, and our faith is also empty (or in vain.) Let's take this discussion to a deeper level. The resurrection of Jesus from the dead proved that He
