The Way was the name of those who were a part of the early church. It was Saul who held the coats of those who stoned Stephen. His crime: He preached the truth that struck deeply into their hearts and for this, he died. Saul had done so many horrible things to Christians, and they greatly feared him. As we learn from the verses above, the enemy will try to pull us away from the life that is contained in God’s word that he might destroy our lives. Jesus tells us in John 17 : 3, eternal life is to know the true God and Jesus Christ, whom God sent into the world. The only we can know God, and Jesus is through His written word. Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance. -NKJV The Apostle Peter writes in his letter that Satan goes about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Jesus teaches in John 10 that He has come that we might have life and enjoy it to the full. You will notice that God wants us to have life and to be satisfied. On the other hand, Satan wants to devour our lives as a lion consumes its prey. The way that we can allow Satan to consume our lives is through evil desire.
