Are You Born Again?

Romans 8 : 15 – 16, For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God… NKJV

There seems to be plenty of discussion over which religion in the world is correct and true. Jesus tells us in Revelation 1 : 8 that He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. In Isaiah 44 : 6, the Lord declares, “I am the First, and I am the Last; beside Me there is no God.” On the basis of these two verses, do you know of any religion that predates the God of the Bible?

If you’re not certain that the Bible is God’s inerrant and infallible word and you’re just not buying into what I’ve written thus far, hang in there a little longer. The Bible doesn’t suggest that God is the only living God without evidence, nor does it suggest that God is the Creator and Lord of all living things without evidence. Take into consideration just how much of the Old Testament describes in great detail, the whole of creation. When Job questioned God during his trial, God asked Job where he was when the Lord laid the foundations of the earth.

There’s more than sufficient evidence just in the Old Testament to confirm that the God of the Bible is the God of creation. Do you know of any religion that existed before the earth and the heavens were created? Nevertheless, that’s the Old Testament but what about Jesus being the Son of God? We’re told that Jesus was the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world by John. (Ref. Jn. 1 : 29)

Before Jesus could have the ability to take away ALL the sin of the world, He would have had to be holy Himself, just like the God of the Bible. For this to have been able to occur, He would have needed to be born without the need for a man’s sperm, since all mankind were sinners. Science teaches us that the blood determines the gender of the child. If a man, Joseph, caused Mary, the mother of Jesus to become pregnant with Him, He wouldn’t be holy. Thus, He would have no power in which to save fallen man from their sin.

Yet, the Bible tells us when Jesus died and then rose from the dead, He ascended into heaven after walking in Jerusalem for forty days after His passion. Just ten days later when the Day of Pentecost had come, the Father poured out His Spirit upon the Jews as Jesus promised.

Because you and I can receive the Spirit of the living God in our spirit, means that the God of the Bible is the true God. This also means that He created all things, including Jesus in the womb of a virgin named Mary. Because we can receive the Holy Spirit means that Jesus was holy and lived a sinless life and God accepted His offering as payment for our sins. Finally, Christianity isn’t a religion and it’s not false hope. God gives His Spirit as confirmation to those who believe on His Son. As Christians, we’re not hoping we’re “saved”, we know we are born again because God’s Spirit bears witness with us that we are saved. Are you born again? If not, then asked God to forgive you and believe in Jesus for your salvation.
