What is Truth?

John 18 : 37 – 38, Pilate therefore said to Him, "Are You a king then?" Jesus answered, "You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice." Pilate said to Him, "What is truth?" -NKJV

Have you taken time to ask yourself, “Where did I originate?” Every human understands that they are the offspring of their parents, but where did our soul/consciousness originate? According to Psalm 139 and Jeremiah 1, God knew us before our bodies were formed within the womb.

There are many people in the world who believe that life simply came into existence without the aid of a Creator. Think about that theory for a moment. Man can make anything they can imagine, but we can’t create life. We can’t create animals. We can’t create plant-life. Men can only plant seeds. It is God who causes the seeds to produce living things. Since we can’t produce life, but can only plant seeds that produce, we must realize that we came from the Giver of life, God!

Life on the earth is exactly the way God intended it to be from the genesis of creation. Before God breathed life into man’s nostrils, he was nothing more than compressed dust.

Even though I have written these statements to establish that creation is a fact and evolution is a theory, many will choose to disregard them. Just as God is the Originator of life and living things, He is also the Originator of Truth.

When Jesus was brought before Pilate to be judged and condemned, Pilate asked Jesus what truth was. If you read the entire chapter, you will notice that Jesus didn’t take the time to explain Truth to him. If someone doesn’t recognize or receive the truth when it is spoken, they won’t be willing to accept the explanation of Truth when it is given.

Do you believe the Bible is God’s absolute Truth given to mankind? If you’re not absolutely certain that it is Truth, ask the Lord to reveal His Truth to you. There’s a reason why some do not recognize Truth when it is given to them. God’s Word is Spiritual, and no one can grasp Truth with human logic or thought. When God speaks to humans by His Spirit, His Word bypasses our mind and deals directly with our heart.

Since God’s Word speaks to our heart, we must be willing to exercise faith in God so that we are able to comprehend Truth. If you struggle to believe that the Bible is God’s Truth, consider using your faith to believe that God is real. If you will place your faith and trust in God, He will give you spiritual understanding to receive His Truth. You then will know Truth without any doubt.

God invites us in Psalm 34 : 8 to taste and see that the Lord is good. If you’ve never tasted of an orange, you can’t possibly comprehend what it is like. The best way to know that God is real, and His Word is Truth is to experience Him with your heart. Go ahead, give God a try!
